What is your favorite part of your job?

Creating marketing material and publications.

What is your least favorite part?

Repetitive tasks, projects that aren't creatively challenging, and being in unnecessary long meetings.

What is your average workday like?

I'm part of a three-person in-house design team and I take on the role of updating current material. So it's a lot of researching, experimenting, and persuading the art director to get him on board with changing the visual presence of our brand.

How did you end up in your field

As far as I can remember, I've always had a notebook and pencil. But in high school, I took a computer arts class and one of the projects was to create a CD cover. I created it out of a sheet of aluminum with embossed letters. From concept to execution of the project, it was something that lit a fire in me and knew it was what I wanted to do.

What traits make a person successful in your field?

Especially with art, anyone can call themselves an artist. But I think exposing yourself to all forms of mediums and really absorbing everything, taking the time to experiment and fail, understanding trends, and above all have fun.
